Vagina Monologues — March 8th, 2011 — International Women’s Day

VAGINA MONOLOGUES RESONATES WITH WOMEN AROUND THE WORLD

We Want Equity Women Everywhere Say and How Better to Celebrate 100 Years of International Women’s Day Than With This Live Performance Which Tells It All

Eve Ensler’s Vagina Monologues comes to the Richmond Hill Centre of Performing Arts on March 8th, 2011, at 8:00 p.m., directed by Rae Smith starring local actors. This series of thematic interviews of women has been shown across the United States in theatres and colleges, and in countries as widespread as England, Rumania and Zaire

It tells a female story, sometimes funny, sometimes sad, happy, intrepid yet always human. It is the perfect night out.

“The Vagina Monologues,” says Producer, Angel Freedman, “demonstrates once again the need that women have to honour and validate their own voices. Not only does this play do a great service by bringing important issues and views to the public’s attention, but, the proceeds will succeed in helping women at a local Richmond Hill shelter. This is certainly a win-win situation.”

Tickets, at $35.00 plus tax, are now available from the Richmond Hill Centre for Performing Arts at 10268 Yonge St., Richmond Hill, ON, 905-787-8811 or on line at http://www.rhcentre.ca/. Proceeds of the performance will go to Sandgate Womens’ Shelter of York Region.

This is the third year the International Women’s Day Committee, Chaired by Angel Freedman, is presenting an event at the Richmond Hill Centre for Performing Arts. This is the 100th year anniversary, 1911 to 2011, of the celebration of International Women’s Day.

This year‘s V-Day, Richmond Hill “The Vagina Monologues” 2011 celebration, starting at 6:30 p.m., precedes the Vagina Monologues, with a Reception, a Silent Auction and a Draw.

Fundraising effort by Jean Vanier Catholic High School Council

A letter from Daphne Williamson, a fellow RHWNA member and a CEO of Hope Shelter and Wellness Foundation

Hello fellow RHWNA members and friends;
As some of you may know, in addition to being a member of this wonderful group, I also sit on the Jean Vanier Catholic High School Council and am a member of the fundraising comittee.
The Council undertakes fundraising efforts to enhance the educational experience of the students at the school by way of providing additional technologies to enhance learning, as well as support for the various student comittees and teams by providing supplies and financial support for activities that they are involved in because these funds are not available through the York Catholic School Board.
We have a number of requests for support from within the school this year and are committed to doing our best to satisfy as many as possible with the funds that we are able to raise.
The JVCHS fundraising committee has already engaged in a fundraising campaign to encourage support from parents. However, additional funds are needed.
Therefore, the committee is seeking the support of local banks and businesses to supplement the funds received this year and has prepared a letter for this purpose, which I have attached to this email.
If you could support our efforts either on a personal or corporate basis it would be greatly appreciated. You can also assist us by forwarding this email to your contacts in the local business community who may be willing to support us.

Thank you so much,
Daphne Williamson
